Ireland's largest service station at Dublin Port has been
officially opened by the Minster for Transport, Noel Dempsey
TD.
The E7m Topaz Ireland-owned service station, which is four
times larger than a typical Irish service station, is sited
at the gateway to the Dublin Port.
"The opening of this service station is a great boost to
the country's economy. Dublin Port is a vital part of keeping
trade moving in Ireland. This facility will be of huge benefit
to the haulage industry, the 4,000 people working at the port
estate and the 1.4 million ferry passengers that travel by
ferry from Dublin Port" - the Minister said.
Michael Sheary, Chief Financial Officer of Dublin Port Company
said - "We've invested over €185 million in port facilities
over the past ten years, to keep pace with the requirements
of our increasing volume of customers. The infrastructure
has improved considerably over the last number years and today's
opening marks a further welcome development for all port customers.
"The 10,000 trucks that flow through the port, delivering
consumer goods that will stock retail shelves everyday, are
the lifeblood of this economy. This new service station will
help to keep the economy rolling."
