2012 National
Smart Electricity Conference
Innovation,
Strategy and Investment for Power Utilities and Government
www.smartelectricity.ie
Following the success of the inaugural 2010 National Smart Grid
Summit, iQuest, in association with ESB Networks, is delighted to
present the 2012 National Smart Electricity Conference.
The concept of Smart Electricity and how it will contribute to
future economic growth in Ireland is now widely acknowledged. Investment
in the smart grid is crucial as current transmission and distribution
systems need to be transformed into smart networks in order to accommodate
larger amounts of renewable energy, as well as allowing customers
to actively manage their electricity needs.
To-date, electricity has been a centrally produced commodity for
a predictable market. A change is now taking place towards a market
where flexibility must occur on both the supplier and the consumer
sides.
The National
Smart Electricity Conference is Ireland’s most comprehensive
platform for energy and policy makers to debate strategies for the
development of Smart Networks, to enable Ireland to move to a low
carbon economy, while enhancing the reliability and efficiency of
transmission and distribution networks.
With the Energy 2020 strategy driving the move towards competitive,
sustainable and secure energy throughout Europe, the National Smart
Electricity Conference 2012 will provide invaluable insights into
the most important projects, research and developments which could
help Ireland become a leader in energy technology and innovation.
The development of Smart Networks is not just for Ireland, but
is a worldwide challenge. Therefore, iQuest
is delighted that, through ESB Networks leading presence in this
area, it has been possible to assemble an internationally-based
speaker
line up from America and Europe, as well as the many multinationals
based in Ireland.
The Smart Electricity Conference 2012 will bring together
leading National and International energy specialists, investors
and regulators to share insights into the immediate challenges and
opportunities realised by the Smart Electricity vision.
