IRCHEM
2005
sponsored
by FedEx - set to attract over 2,000 visitors
|
IRCHEM - Ireland's only Exhibition for the largest, most
successful and fastest growing industrial sector - moves to
Dublin for this year's event.
To date the exhibition has been held in Cork on a biennial
basis since 1985 and attracts up to 200 Irish and International
exhibitors and up to 2,000 visitors. Sales for the 2005 event
are up on last year and organisers - SDL Exhibitions - expect
record numbers of exhibitors and visitors in attendance.
|
Due to exhibitor and market requests, IRCHEM 2005 will be
held in the new CityWest Hotel & Conference Centre, from 20 to 22
September 2005. This provides easier access to the many new and
expanding manufacturing, biotech, R&D; and medical device facilities
- which have sprung up throughout the country.
The content of the event includes - production equipment, instrumentation,
environmental management systems, automation systems, safety equipment,
packaging and handling technology.
The visitors include - production managers, engineers, technicians
and decision makers from the Pharmaceutical, Chemical, Medical Device,
Food, Beverage and other processing industries operating in Ireland.
IRCHEM is open to all those involved in the Chemical, Pharmaceutical,
Processing and Medical Devices industries.
Industry profile
With exports of over €35 billion and employing in the region of
17,000 highly skilled people, this sector accounts of over
one third of Ireland's total exports.
Ireland is a key global location for the pharmaceutical industry.
Foreign Direct Investment for the Pharmaceutical sector in Ireland
is 40 years old, with Squibb (now Bristol-Myers Squibb) being the
first pharmaceutical company to locate in Ireland in 1964. Currently,
thirteen of the top fifteen companies in the world have substantial
operations in Ireland. In total there are 93 facilities, employing
more than 17,000 people in Ireland. 6 out of 10 and
12 out of 25 of the world's top selling drugs are produced in
Ireland - with products being manufactured in Ireland for global
markets. The Pharmaceutical cluster in Ireland is supported by a
sophisticated infrastructure of serviced sites, public utilities
- as well as specialist support companies and services.
Many of the pharmaceutical companies in Ireland have established
multiple activities in the country, including - Fermentation
(Schering-Plough, Wyeth), API (Merck, Pfizer, Yamanouchi),
Sterile Fill/Finish (Genzyme, Allergan), Formulation (Wyeth,
Takeda, Pfizer).
The sector's satisfaction with Ireland is exemplified by
several examples of repeat investment, with major pharmaceutical
companies having multiple plants - e.g. Pfizer operates
6 manufacturing sites, as well as a Corporate Bank and
a European Financial Shared Services Centre.

Processing Industry
Because of the major processing applications in the chemical and
pharmaceutical industry sectors, IRCHEM also attracts a large
number of visitors from the food, dairy, brewing and other processing
organisations, as many of the products and services on display are
used in all aspects of processing.
IRCHEM 2005 will be promoted through an extensive marketing
and advertising campaign. Exhibitors are invited to submit the names
of important clients and prospective customers - with details of
the products they wish to promote to them for inclusion in a special
VIP invitation. IRCHEM also provides overseas suppliers with
a unique opportunity to introduce their company and products to
the Irish market and further penetrate the Irish market and support
their agents in this country. The exhibition allows overseas suppliers
to penetrate export markets being served by the large design and
engineering consultancies, based in Ireland and now working on international
projects.
