IT Sligo also offers a one-year add-on degree in Environmental Chemistry to holders of relevant Diplomas in Applied Science.

With regard to continuing education, a Graduate Diploma in Environmental Protection by distance learning has been running since 1989. It is aimed at science and engineering graduates who have environmental responsibilities, but who lack formal environmental training. It comprises five subjects over two years which may be taken over an extended period to suit the course participant. There is an option to progress to a M.Sc. in Environmental Protection, which is a one year distance learning course available to holders of the Graduate Diploma. The main component is a dissertation, which may be work-based.
