Mr. Andrew Doyle, TD, Minister of State at the
Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine with
responsibility for forestry, highlighted the importance
and value of forest certification in his opening
address to the National Conference on Forest Management
Certification in Ireland, in the National Botanic
Gardens, Glasnevin, earlier today.
Successful collaborations and ground-breaking innovation
were celebrated recently at the annual Knowledge
Transfer Impact Awards (23rd June) at the Royal
Hospital Kilmainham in Dublin.
Speaking at the AGM of Irish Wood Producers Group
in Mullinavat, Co. Kilkenny, Minister Andrew Doyle,
TD, Minister of State at the Department of Agriculture,
Food and the Marine with responsibility for forestry,
highlighted the importance of such Groups.
"Forestry has been a positive experience and a
rewarding investment" says Christy Tighe, a dairy
farmer from Tuam, Co Galway who went from milking
cows to harvesting trees.
Sustainable Forest Management Ireland, SFMI, the
organisation formerly known as FSC Ireland, is hosting
a national conference on forest management certification
in Ireland, on Thursday, 30th June 2016, in the
National Botanic Gardens in Dublin.
